into perspective.
Explore an illustrative monthly repayment. Change the loan amount, interest rate and term to see how the figures move.
The loan amount
This is the amount you borrow, not the property price. For a purchase, it is usually the price minus your deposit, before any fees you choose to add.
The mortgage term
A longer term may reduce monthly repayments but can increase the total interest paid. A shorter term usually means higher monthly repayments.
The interest rate
The calculator holds the rate constant for the whole term. Real mortgage rates can change when a fixed deal ends or when a variable rate changes.
Figures are rounded and exclude fees, insurance, charges and rate changes. Interest-only borrowing needs a separate repayment plan and is not modelled here. Your lender’s mortgage illustration gives the product-specific costs. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
